About Charlotte Kimelman

Born in New York City where she attended primary and secondary school. She graduated from Adelphi College, Cum Laude, with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was a pre-med student. She married U.S. Navy Lt. Henry L. Kimelman in 1943. The Kimelman Family moved to St. Thomas in 1950 where they raised three children, Susan, Donald and John. She served on the Board of Directors of the Virgin Isle Hotel, the West Indies Corporation and was President of the West Indies Corporation from 1977-1980.

She has organized many Red Cross fundraising Drives and was active with the USO in St. Thomas. She was President for several years of the PTA at Antilles School and served on the Board of Trustees. She was active for many years with Partners for Health which is an organization whose mission is to be the premiere charitable foundation for Scientific, Health, Education and other Benevolent purposes primarily to assist in providing special healthcare equipment to the people of the Virgin Islands. She served as its President for two years.

With her husband, Ambassador Kimelman, she is a co-founding benefactor of the Community Foundation of the Virgin Islands whose purpose is to strengthen the non-profit community in the territory and promote philanthropy throughout the U.S. Virgin Islands. She has served on its Board of Directors for three years.

Today, she remains very involved in a variety of Philanthropic endeavors, and continues to be a devoted wife and mother and grandmother to her family.
