The Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute offers the most sophisticated forms of conventional medicine in combination with complementary therapies. The Cancer Institute, located at the Schneider Regional Medical Center in St. Thomas, USVI, is founded on the principle that patients throughout the Caribbean deserve access to highly supportive, individualized and holistic care. Through its regional alliances throughout the Caribbean, the Cancer Institute emphasizes education, prevention, screening, and early detection, while making available the most advanced treatment and research within a world-class center located close to home.
To accomplish our mission, the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute provides patients and families with a Cancer Care Team consisting of surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, plastic surgeons, nurses, social workers, nutritionists, pastoral counselors, and other health professionals, working together to deliver quality, compassionate care to patients with cancer. As a liaison to the Cancer Care Team, a Cancer Patient Navigator is provided to patients and families to serve as a partner for supportive care. Additionally, through the Cancer Institute's various academic medical center affiliations with mainland institutions, patients and families are assured they have access to and are receiving the latest cancer fighting agents and technologies.
