"I was assigned to Dr. Rabinadrath Bachan at the Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute. This place, this man, and the nurses and staff at CKCI saved my life. WHen my body reached the point of collapse from the meds, he immediately met me in the Emergency Room, wiped my brow, held my hand, and told me... "don't worry, I am going to get you through this".. And he did.

Although my illness is not in his specialty, he never wavered away from being there for me whenever needed, and he made sure I was treated correctly for all the horrible things I had to experience from the illness and meds. Additional, Nurse Yolanda Liburd was always there for every follow up test and treatment I endured. When my veins would continually collapse, she would come from her CKCI department and administer what was needed when the other staff had problems. Together, they were always sensitive to how sick I was, how badly I felt, would encourage me to continue, and give me hope and cheer for the future.

I saw them 3 times a week for 56 consecutive weeks, and they never failed me. As well, all the supporting staff, Arianne, Denise, Phylis, Kate, Jenny, Mr. Georges, and Lucy were all equally encouraging and supportive.Today, I am very cose to my old self, thanks in part to them.

Whatever happens to you, your family, or friends, do not ever accept the advice of any doctor who says, or even hints at, "can't" when it comes to treatment. RUN to find someone else who at least says "we'll give it a try," and don't stop looking until you are sure you have found the RIGHT doctor! I now know that the cliche' of getting a second opinion is not a cliche; it is a necessity. Not all doctors are really good "specialists" in their fields, not all doctors really care enough about all their patients. Keep looking and find the one that is that good and does care that much for you. Thank you!"
